Top 5 K-pop Wardrobe Malfunctions And Fans Reactions

K-pop Wardrobe Malfunctions

Many times, we have seen K-pop wardrobe malfunctions either in concert or during fan meets. The most common types of wardrobe fails include torn skirts, ripped tops, loose dresses, and many more like these. For instance, during the “Born Pink” tour, Jennie’s skirt flew up and instilled embarrassment. Although some are genuine malfunctions, many are fabricated ones. The small idol management firms do this, allegedly to create buzz and feature their name on social media.

However, many big firms, like SM Entertainment, are on the radar because they don’t want petty practices to promote themselves, but still, many K-pop wardrobe malfunctions are coming from these firms only. There are only two reasons for this: first, they don’t spend much on styling and see this as a cost-cutting measure to maximise profits, and second, they are actually doing it to create buzz among the fans who then go on to X.com and tweet heavily about the incident, making the firm’s and idol’s name famous all over the media.

Here, we have collected the top 10 K-pop wardrobe malfunctions that created embarrassment for the idol and anger among the fans. The following are examples of such incidents:

Rosé (BlackPink) – Halter-Neck Strap Slipped

During the Indonesian leg of the “Born Pink” world tour, many things happened, and one such thing was the wardrobe malfunction handled by the group member, Rosé. While performing “Hard To Love” during her solo stage, she experienced a potential wardrobe fail, resulting in a strap holding her whole dress coming down.

She quickly noticed the malfunction and held the strap during the performance. Before a dancer on the stage rushed to help her out, but guess what, in a bit of professionalism and passion, Rose continued to sing, impressing the audience. It may have resulted in a moment of embarrassment for the idol as well as the fans, but the singer managed it professionally and was praised by fans on social media.

Ningning (Aespa) – Torn Skirt During Performance

This is not the first time with Aespa, and the blame goes to the big idol management firm SM Entertainment for not fulfilling the basic requirement of good clothing. During the Synk: Parallel Line tour, Aespa’s member Singer Ningning performed “Armageddon.” While performing, her miniskirt began to rip mid-performance. She took the matter into her own hands and pulled off the complex choreography while holding the skirt from coming off during the whole performance.

Though fans praised the singer for her smart move, on the other hand, people raised questions over the giant SM Entertainment. Many fans questioned whether it was done on purpose to create international buzz among the fans. While others request that it shouldn’t keep happening.

Jennie (BlackPink) – Skirt Blown Up by Air

You all have seen Marilyn Monroe’s iconic flying skirt scene from the movie The Seven Year Itch. Something similar has happened to the BlackPink member singer Jennie during the group’s Houston Born Pink show. While performing, Jennie’s skirt blew in the wind. Though not much harm was caused, as she was wearing shorts underneath.

Fast forward to five months, and a Marilyn Monroe moment happened again, this time during the Indonesian leg of the Born Pink tour. This time, the fellow member had a different reaction. Lisa was running towards Jennie to cover her up, but she instead motioned for Jennie to re-create the moment. Rose hilariously said they want wind to come back and gave nickname “Marilyn Jennie” as the incident kept happening to her. Whatever happened on the stage, Jennie handled it professionally and performed with all her heart.
